35yoSeeking... good grammar
Word Count: 271
Confession: I’m a proud grammar geek. I mean, I work in marketing and communications, so it comes with the territory. But it’s infiltrated my personal life, too. I may or may not tend to include something along the lines of “good grammar and witty banter” under my “likes” in my profile on dating apps. I’m sure the boys LOVE that, ha!
Now that I’ve set the stage for you, it should come as absolutely no surprise that I’m obsessed with Grammarly, available as a browser extension (my favorite!), desktop app, mobile app, AND mobile keyboard. Remember, there are no ads here—I found Grammarly on my own and use it daily at home and work.
Yes, there is a basic free version—huzzah! But their premium plan is surprisingly affordable if writing and editing is an essential part of your life and work (here’s looking at you, execs, assistants, and bloggers). Two of the premium plan features I like best are vocabulary suggestions (because I tend to pick a word and overuse it to death) and tone detection (because sometimes my work emails need just a little lightening up). Maybe best of all, Grammarly helps me slow down and take a beat before I press “save” or “send.” And I know it’s nerdy, but I get a huge confidence boost from my weekly writing report that gives me a grade compared to other Grammarly users and generally makes me feel like a writing rockstar.
In conclusion, if you find yourself at all interested or inclined, do yourself a favor and create a free account on your device of choice. Happy writing!
